About the Role:
We are seeking a Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the day-to-day running of our children’s home in Plymouth. This is a fantastic opportunity to step into a leadership role where you will help shape a nurturing, safe, and empowering environment for vulnerable children and young people.
As Deputy Manager, you will:
- Support the Registered Manager in the operational oversight of the home.
- Deliver therapeutic, child-centred care in accordance with The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
- Promote a positive, nurturing, and emotionally warm environment for both young people and staff.
- Provide direct supervision and support to residential staff, promoting reflective practice and professional development.
- Assist in the creation and implementation of individualised care plans and risk assessments.
- Help ensure robust safeguarding practices and compliance with regulatory frameworks.
- Support with staff rotas, shift planning, and on-call responsibilities.
- Act as the senior person on shift in the absence of the Registered Manager.
- Contribute to multi-agency working to achieve positive outcomes for children.

Essential Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience (within the last 5 years) working directly with children/young people—ideally from complex environments.
- At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role within a residential childcare setting.
- Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent) – Level 5 Diploma (or willingness to work toward) desirable.
- Full UK Driving Licence and use of vehicle for business purposes.
